The UK Public Health Register provides public protection by ensuring that only competent public health professionals are registered and that high standards of practice are maintained.

Our Aims

The UKPHR has been established to promote public confidence in specialist public health practice in the UK through independent regulation.

It has achieved this by:

• publishing a register of competent Public Health Specialists
• ensuring through periodic revalidation that Public Health. Specialists keep up to date and maintain competence.
• dealing with registered specialists who fail to meet the necessary standards.

Registration is designed to assure the public and employers which multidisciplinary specialists in public health are appropriately qualified and competent. It sets standards that are recognised throughout the United Kingdom and provides significant public protection from unprofessional or unethical behaviour.
